Fast:
A warning cry to STOP shooting immediately.

Feathers:
The flights on an arrow to aid in stability in flight.

Field Archery:
A form of archery shot outdoors in a wooded area, with targets of different sizes set at varying distances and elevations to the archer, the archers walk from target to target.

Finger tab:
A piece of leather that protects the string fingers.

Fistmele:
The measurement of the distance from the grip to the string of a bow, usually measured by placing a fist on the grip with the thumb extended towards the bowstring.

Fishtailing:
The side to side motion of the nock end of an arrow in flight.

FITA:
Fédération Internationale De Tir à L'Arc, The international governing body for the sport of archery.

Flatbow:
A modern bow with flat section limbs made from fibreglass and wood laminations, often referred to as a longbow.

Flemish loose:
A loose using only two fingers, usually the first and Index fingers.

Flemish string:
A bow string made in such a way that the loops are plaited from material without the addition of serving.

Fletcher:
[1] An arrow maker.
[2] A person who attaches fletches to arrows.

Fletching:
To add flights to an arrow.

Flight shooting:
An archery competition in which the object is to shoot an arrow the furthest distance.

Flo:
A swift arrow.

Flu Flu arrow:
An arrow with large feathers used for targets thrown in the air or shooting birds.

F.O.C.
Forward of centre, the distance the centre of gravity is moved forward in relation to the centre of the arrows length, usually expressed as a percentage.

Footed arrow:
An arrow reinforced with a spliced hardwood foreshaft.

Fore shaft:
A supplementary hard wood shaft added to the front end of a shaft.

Forward loose:
Allowing the draw hand to move forward towards the bow immediately prior to or during loose/release.

Freestyle:
A bow that has sights. Also, competition conducted with such bows.
