Saturday - 31st October Shoot Report by Le Chat

This week shoot included the re qualification of Range captains and this interrupted Ade’s plans for the shoot.  The usual warm up was conducted and a few of our regular games were played.  Range captains were introduced for their re qualification so is was a little disjointed.  The range captains qualified from today were:

Jenni

Ade

Dave A

Nigel

Pa T-B

See revised Range Captains List

The after tea break challenge was the Siege of Abergavenny Castle 1182, where is was said that Welsh archer managed to break through the large oak door by shooting many arrows at the door.  Ade’s representation of this was to hang up various thickness of comic annuals.  The archers then choose which thickness to shoot at and any that penetrated would be considered as being successful shots and fulfilled the challenge.  Two archers managed to penetrate through the books chosen.

Saturday - 7th November Shoot report by Le Chat

As I fail to arrange a Range Captain for this week, it was left to me to run the session.  However I need to see Rupert so I managed to pass the buck to Jenni who was kind enough to do the warn up etc for me while I was away from the range.  Upon my return I find that she managed to rope Richard into being a range captain for the day too!  A few games were played and I rejoined the session with the companions doing another siege of the castle.  I strikes me that the companions are getting a little too good at this game!!!

After tea break I started the first round of the Companions Challenge.  We played 2 games which is going to be the format for the 13 week challenge.

The first game was a straight forward points scores on the round FITA targets from 20 yards.  There were three rounds first one with 6 arrows, followed by a round with 4 arrows and a final round with 2 arrows.  Due to popular demand the first round was repeated and the Companions needed a practise.  However some wanted their scores to count, so I decided that we would do the first round twice and the best score from the 2 attempts will be carried forward.  S here are the scores:

The second game was was a straight forward knock out competition.  Nearest the bull with arrow elimination.  This time the Companions only had 3 arrows to shoot and when a companion has had all the arrows eliminated 2 arrows were returned.  Effectively this was a second life given to everyone!  The order in which archers were eliminated was recorded and the order of elimination and the final round gave the order in which point are to be awarded.  The results are as follows:
