Merry Christmas!

Saturday - 19th December Shoot report by Ade

The Christmas Shoot was very successful – but not for Santa!  As your range captain was Ade – some very ‘odd’ games were played.  After the warm up we started with Game for a Lunch!

Companions Trophy - Le Chat

This weeks Companions trophy events were the 50 yrd target shoot and the Clout handicap shoot.

The 50 yrd target scoring was just like the previous weeks target shoot except the shooting line was moved to 50 yrds.  This is now becoming a bit of a test for the Companions.  The results are as follows:

The object of the game was very simple – you had to shoot your Christmas lunch.   There were six carefully crafted targets which display bits of your lunch and you had six arrows in which to shoot them.

Then we went straight to the Companions challenge which I called ‘Talk to the Hand’, or officially was shooting through the fingers.  A valiant effort was made by all, but no one managed to shoot between my fingers drawn onto a piece of card.

Then the group felt a bit thirsty so we quenched our thirst by shooting beer cans and a barrel.

After this, came a new game of Ade devious creation.  Using the quintain, the group divided into three teams of six.  They had to bet on how many arrows they would get on the shield.  If they got less they would lose points, and if they got more, they would only get the points they had bet.  The winners were the Team of the Frozen Two.

After the break we then went to the roundel to polish of Rudolph (the deer), Santa’s ‘little’ helper (the bear) and a Christmas tree kindly donated by Jason and Danielle – thank you to them.

Then Le Chat ran the Companions Trophy shoot – details below, and we finished with some hardy souls doing a bit of artillery shooting.  Finally some members mentioned it was a bit cold on Saturday – Jenny Gerard did not think so!

The second game was the ‘normalised’ clout shoot.  This is where the archer stands at the flag arrow and shoots away from it.  The archer then walks up the field to his arrow and shoots back at the flag arrow.  Nearest arrow wins.  Simples!

In order of nearest to furthest away from the clout arrow the points winners are:

Kirin 1st

Jenni 2nd

Dave 3rd

Lewis 4th

All others 5th (Every one who turned up gets bonus 2 points! Its Christmas after all!).

So for week 6 the table is as follows:
