Robin Hood Goofs - Episode 4
Episode 4 "Parent Hood"
Robin and the gang attempt to steal some of Gisborne's horses and discover a mysterious baby.
Do Babies Eat Venison?
Obviously the answer to this question is “yes”. How else do the Merry Men feed a new born baby in the middle of Sherwood Forest?
The Solid Dungeon Door
The Merry Men have to break into the dungeons for this episode (again). Will Scarlet knows that the door to the dungeon is solid wood and take too long to cut through. He also knows the lock will be too difficult to break. But wait! He knows the guy who made the hinges for the door and apparently this guy was rubbish at making hinges! Hurrah! But how do the Merry Men get to the hinges? They cut through the solid wood to get to them. Errrmmm…..
Homage or Ripoff? Marking The Horse’s Shoe
Remember the bit from the 1980’s Robin of Sherwood where in the episode called “Adam Bell” the Merry Men track a horse by marking an X on it’s horse shoe and following the tracks in the mud? (What do you mean “no”? Play along.) Sir Guy of Gisborne uses this same trick during this episode.
Homage or Ripoff? Pirates of the Sherwood Forest
Remember the bit from 2003 film Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl where Orlando Bloom’s character breaks Captain Jack out of prison by exploiting a known weakness with door’s hinges? Will Scarlet comes up with this idea too.
When To Fight?
The Merry Men are surrounded in the dungeons and although armed, they decide to surrender. That’s fine. However when they are tied up in the courtyard ready to be hanged they have a change of heart and decide they’d rather fight now. It was obviously too easy for them when they weren’t tied up and they had their weapons. But hang on …
Reappearing Weapons
Was there a guard given the specific duty of holding everyone’s weapons while they were tied up? Then, when the fighting began he could give them back to the right Merry Man as soon as their hands became free? You know, like a cloak room attendant. Because that’s what it looked like.
Bad Luck Roy
Sadly, one of the Merry Men called Roy gets cut down by four soldiers during the fight between the sheriff’s soldiers, Robin Hood and his Merry Men. He gets time for a bit of a hero speech before they close in on him though. If only someone was there with say, a bow, a quiver full of arrows and who had a track record for shooting four super accurate arrows in three seconds, Roy could’ve been saved. Such a shame and such bad luck Roy that no one was there for you...
