Robin Hood Goofs - Episode 11
Episode 11 "Dead Man Walking"
When John's son is arrested, he too is captured in a failed rescue attempt. Robin must attempt to save them both as John tries to reconcile with his family.
Firewood is Worth More Than Tools - Fact
This show starts with the character of Luke Cooper, the er, cooper, not having enough money to pay his taxes. The guards are told to take the money in goods so they immediately walk straight past his tools and head for the wood pile. This of course is so they can find his secret stash of Saracen bows …
Warbows, Saracen Bows and Bowyers
So Luke Cooper, the cooper, does a nice little side line in “Saracen” bows. The sheriff refers to these bows as warbows (wrong type of bow sheriff) that few people know how to make (been around for centuries sheriff) that would give his soldiers an edge (your men can’t shoot for toffees anyway as we’ve all seen back in episode 1 so why bother sheriff). The thing is Robin wants some made for the rest of the Merry Men. If all of what the sheriff says is true, in Robin’s fantasy world wouldn’t this (a) make their usual sneaking around harder now they’re carrying trademark bows, (b) make finding bowyers who can maintain and repair them harder and (c) don’t seem to offer any edge at all because we’ve never seen any difference between shots from a longbow or Saracen bow anyway?
There’s No Room in the Dungeons
Due to the sheriffs planned “Festival of Pain” the dungeons are apparently over flowing and they have to start chaining prisoners up outside to the tree in the courtyard. Only they keep flicking back to Little John, Alice Little, Little Little John and Luke Cooper trying sort out their family problem without the aid of Trisha or Oprah Winfrey where it’s clear that the cells are completely empty except for them.
Do You Want Building and Contents Insurance sir?
So the sheriff has decked out the hall with all types of torture devices for his “Festival of Pain”. The centre piece appears to be a large pit of red hot coals. As the hall of the floor is made up of wooden floorboards, I wonder how long it took before the entire castle burnt to the ground?
Coins And The Disappearing Guards
When Robin and the Merry Men sneak into the castle hall (again) they distract the guards by throwing bags of coins all over the great hall. This tactic was so successful that for the rest of the scene all the guards and the assembled spectators disappear from the hall altogether.
